Purpose and Vision:
The purpose and vision is to bring different dance styles together in the same space, to interact, to respectfully dance together and support one another. The goals is cultural healing, camaraderie, and exchange.
Some cool things that could happen: If you meet people who you can do a project with in the future, support each other's dance performances elsewhere, follow one another on socials and help promote each other, simply enjoy being around and with dancers of different backgrounds.

The Process:
1. Hoop Dancers: We will begin by warming up and getting opening shots, then by doing a full pass of the Hoop Dancers with the song Edwin is preparing. We will ask them to do a second short 1 minute pass with ear monitors on (audio in ears) to capture sounds of feet.
Other dancers (Flamenco, Folklorico, Breaking) will stand in a circle formation around the Hoop Dancers, cheering them on, supporting them, and just enjoying the dance scene.
2. Cipher Scene Jam session: Dancers from each style will then have a chance to show something in the middle of the circle. Because it's for film, it doesn't need to be long, or continuous. It can be as simple as turns, or short skills you have. We can work with slo-mo, and different camera speeds. If you'd like to bring music for us to play, you're welcome to! This will be a time of fun and shared skills and support from the different styles. Different styles are welcome to clap along or join as it feels right and relevant.
-Have fun, keep it light, laugh, enjoy the moment!
3. Details: We will then use the remainder of the time to focus on getting detail shots. Portrait-like angles, close ups, closeups of feet, slo motion shots etc. If we are running out of time, we will prioritize hoop dancers and capture portraits of other dancers at their own shoot date.
Breaks: If you need a break, please ask, we will offer some between takes.
Christiana is going to bring water and snack bars for everyone.

Payments:
All dancers and crew will be paid to work on the project because of grant money we received from the Santa Fe International Film Festival, and from City of Albuquerque. Dancers are paid for a day rate and experience. We will have you sign an agreement and invoice us before or on the day. All payments are flat rates.
We have applied for more grants! Visualize with us that we get them!

Cancellation/Weather etc.
If weather is bad and we know this ahead of time, we will find a day to reschedule with everyone.
Important:
We humbly ask as dance creators, filmmakers, and artists of New Mexico that you do your best to follow through with us. We anticipate that everything will go according to plan, but because this project involves funding, locations, and scheduling, we ask that you make every effort to be available on the shoot date. If you need to cancel, please do so at least two weeks in advance, and we graciously ask that you help us find a replacement—though please know that we reached out to you specifically because working with you is our ideal, as you are such a vital part of the dance community.
If you need to cancel due to illness, we understand and will do everything we can to adjust for the other dancers. Please keep us informed as early as possible if you're feeling unwell so we can make necessary arrangements.
We ask this because thousands of dollars are invested in this project, and many dancers and crew members have adjusted their schedules to make it happen.
We deeply appreciate your commitment and are so excited to create something meaningful and fulfilling for the community. This project is about togetherness and building community, and we’re grateful to be doing this with you!
